MAIZE FLOUR

Maize Meal is a popular bulk ingredient produced by fine grinding maize. As mentioned under 'Maize Meal', carp are attracted to maize products irrespective of their format. As an inexpensive ingredient, Maize Flour is also popular for 'bulking out' baits and has very little taste and virtually no smell. Many anglers will recognise it as the fine yellow flour that is commonly used by tackle shops as a 'dusting' material for maggots.

MAIZE MEAL

Another popular bulk ingredient, Maize Meal is produced by grinding maize less finely than for Maize Flour. Carp seem to love all maize products, and Maize Meal is certainly no exception. As an inexpensive ingredient, it is popular for 'bulking out' baits where long term bait application and digestibility is not of paramount importance. It has very little taste, no smell and is a white and yellow-flecked meal, very commonly used for method mix and ground bait inclusion.

MEGGABLEND

This dry bird food blend of seeds and egg product is part of the incredibly popular and successful CC Moore range of 'Meggablend' products. It is ideal for use as a base mix ingredient, providing a highly nutritious combination of sugars, oils, crushed seeds, vegetable and egg protein, as well as a superb texture in finished baits that promotes excellent leakage in water. Meggablend also has a valuable binding property to help firm baits.

MEGGABLEND RED (+ Carophyll Red)

As with the other two products in the 'Meggablend' range, (Meggablend and Meggablend Sweet), Meggablend Red has become very popular with many anglers and bait companies. Consisting of crushed seeds, biscuit meals, egg foods and the acclaimed fish attractor Carophyll Red, Meggablend Red adds a great deal to baits, including texture, binding properties, a beautifully subtle-sweet taste, oils, sugars, leakage properties and of course, red flecks to pale baits. As soon as anglers see Meggablend Red, it often becomes an instant choice of ingredient for inclusion in their bait.

MEGGABLEND SWEET (with Honey)

As the final product in the 'Meggablend' range, Meggablend Sweet contains the same crushed seeds, oils, natural sugars, vitamins, minerals, and vegetable and egg proteins as Meggablend. However, as a further development of the successful Meggablend, Meggablend Sweet also contains honey, giving it added natural attraction through a beautifully enhanced, sweet aroma and taste. This increases the finished taste and appeal of products whilst also improving the binding, leakage, visual appearance and nutritional properties of baits that contain it.

MEAT MEAL (Purified)

As with CCM Blood Powder, this Purified Meat Meal has been treated to maintain quality and freshness. Its nutritional profile is complimented by a strong meaty aroma making the meal such an effective fish-attracting ingredient. Without having to add synthetic flavours which blow over a short time, Meat Meal adds a powerful, natural meaty aroma giving baits a completely different dimension. When used in base mixes, it gives a brown, slightly speckled finish to bait but lends no binding properties to the mix, and is therefore often used in conjunction with blood powder.

POULTRY PROTEIN MEAL

In the last two years, one of the most pressing questions faced by the global animal feed, aquaculture and fish bait industries is: What protein source can we use to replace fish meal in animal and fish food diets?

This question has arisen due to issues of cost and availability of fish meal, legislation, quality control and consistency of physical and nutritional properties. We believe that this product is a superb option as a fish meal replacement. It has a consistent mid-brown colour, an attractive mild cooked chicken aroma, very similar functional properties to fish meal, an excellent protein quality with a crude content of 70%, and an oil level of approximately 11% (the same as LT94 Fish Meal). Not only is it a superb protein source but it also gives baits an excellent alternative aroma and taste to that of fish meal.

ROASTED PEANUT MEAL

With increasing pressure on the availability and price of fishmeals, alternative viable protein sources are always of considerable interest to bait makers and companies. Roasted Peanut Meal is not only a valuable source of quality protein (at around 40% crude protein) but is also a very attractive meal that has a deep nutty aroma with the added bonus of being roasted for extra flavour and nutrient digestibility. As a fine, pale, slightly oily meal, Roasted Peanut Meal can be used in bird food, milk protein or even fish meal baits to add a smooth aroma, texture and retained moisture content.

ROBIN RED

Well what can you say about Robin Red that hasn't been said lots of times before? We can't tell you a great deal about the make up of this ingredient, as it isn't ours! This product is sourced from Haiths and is the original Robin Red that has helped anglers catch so many fish down the years. Made from peppers, oils, sugars and crushed seeds, it has a deep, 'beetroot red' colour that traces through as a red or brown tinge in finished baits. The strength of colour in finished boilies greatly depends on other ingredients included in the base mix, but we recommend a minimum inclusion of 10%.

SEMOLINA

Semolina is still one of the most widely used bait ingredients in modern day carp bait production. It is inexpensive, attractive to fish, and more importantly brings a gently firming structure to bait that eases the rolling process. As a non-soluble ingredient, it can also be used to counteract stickiness in mixes consisting of high levels of soluble materials.

SHRIMP MEAL

This coarse crustacean meal adds texture to boilies and has been used by bait companies for a number of years. Being a very low-density product it is important that it is not included excessively in base mixes but is excellent for reducing the density of baits. This helps to make them 'fly up' into the mouth of fish more easily than heavier baits when fish are grubbing around, feeding in the baited area. But, as with Krill Meal, beware of over-inclusion as you may end up with buoyant baits!

SOYA FLOUR

This Soya Flour is fine-ground, enzyme inactive, full-fat soya bean meal. High in oils and fats with a protein content of around 45%, Soya Flour is a very popular, all round ingredient that contributes many benefits to mixes. It is an effective binder, has an attractive malt aroma, adds a smoothness that eases rolling, is reasonably inexpensive and also maintains moisture content in baits.

SOYA ISOLATE

Soya Isolate is the isolated protein fraction of soya bean and has a crude protein content of around 80%. It is a very light ingredient that adds a gentle pliability to bait whilst contributing essential amino acids that increase the overall protein quality of the finished bait.

SUPERGOLD 60 (60% maize protein)

Supergold 60 is a fine, gritty meal, made from the high protein fraction of maize. It is a very highly digestible source of quality protein that is becoming more and more widely used within the bait and aquaculture industry as a fishmeal-replacing ingredient. With a protein content of 60%, and an energy content of around 20% higher than fish meal, Supergold 60 has a great deal of nutritional value to offer to baits as well as functional and appearance properties. As a bright golden yellow meal, it adds distinctive coloured flecks, as well as a gritty texture and an attractive maize aroma.

TIGER NUT FLOUR

This fine ground tiger nut flour has become very popular with companies and individuals who are looking to give baits a smooth, creamy texture with a distinctive taste that fish love. Suitable for use all year round, Tiger Nut Flour can be incorporated into any mix as a base ingredient, allowing baits to retain moisture through the oil it supplies.

VANILLA EXTRACT MEAL

As a natural ingredient, Vanilla Extract Meal is extremely popular due to its long-term effectiveness as a genuine fish attractor. It effectively compliments other high quality ingredients to produce baits with a superb creamy undertone that are extremely attractive but sufficiently subtle to go on working over long periods. As a very digestible, low oil, mildly sweet ingredient, this meal has been remarkably successful over the past year and has improved catch rates in all seasons.

VITAMEALO MILK POWDER

For several years, this beautifully creamy, skimmed milk based powder was missing from the carp bait market, leaving a hole in many good base mix recipes. Since its re-introduction, it has become extremely popular as a source of milk proteins and oils, which adds gentle binding properties to bait, whilst adding a sweet, creamy finish.
 

WHEATGERM

Wheatgerm has long been recognised as a very valuable component of aquaculture baits and feeds that supports the intestinal flora of fish, especially during the colder months when digestibility is essential for them to gain maximum benefit from the food they consume. This human food grade ingredient is ideal for use in 'year-round' baits, but is very buoyant so should be limited to low inclusion levels.

WHEAT GLUTEN

Wheat Gluten is a high protein product derived from wheat. With a protein content of around 75%, wheat gluten has become very undervalued in the past few years, being considered as a poor quality product with a limiting digestibility value. In fact, it is a very cost effective product that adds a slightly rubbery skin, flexible firmness and valuable nutrients to baits.
 

WHEY GEL

Whey Gel is a modified whey protein used in the human food industry to replace eggs in food items where strong gelling properties are required. With ever-increasing numbers of anglers experiencing crayfish problems, this ingredient has proven to be invaluable at home and abroad. With an inclusion level of 1-2oz per lb, baits can be boiled for reduced times (down to 60 seconds), maintaining more of their nutritional value whilst producing very hard baits that are cooked right through to the centre.
