I bought the N-Gage a few weeks back and started putting some in twice a week from the day it arrived.

First time out I blanked, which was to be expected, as I had only applied a few kgs of bait in the lake which is somewhat over 10 acres. The 2nd time out was a quick overnighter last week and I lost a good fish at the net, which was very annoying but who would have cared if they knew what was to happen 4 days later!.

Turned up this weekend for a session (Friday - Sunday) and knew it was going to be hard going due to the very high air pressure, easterly winds and cold overnight temperatures. First night all anglers blanked and the 2nd night was to be a awesome one for me. All the other anglers unfortunately blanked this weekend but the N-Gage worked its magic!!

First fish came late afternoon on Saturday a nice 22lb 10oz Mirror and then the new PB for me (my previous PB (37lb) was 10 years ago!!!!) in the shape of a lovely mirror known as "Pepper" at 39lb 8oz.

This fish is currently the 2nd largest caught fish in the lake - and the largest resident has not been banked for 3 years. Pepper’s highest weight last time out was previously recorded at 40lb 2oz; funny enough caught by my brother!!!

I took the time on Thursday night to make my own N-Gage wafters and pop ups of various sizes and colours which worked a treat to catch the new PB. These were fished at 40 yards range over a bed of bait fished on a small gravel patch with a stiff hinged pop up rig 2" off the bottom with a size 6 Korda wide gape hook and Korda IQ hooklink.
