Forget Grant and Phil......

Big fish-catching brothers Neil and Steve Mitchell recently fished a 2-3 day session on the beautiful Milton Abbas specimen lake to catch a staggering 13 fish between them.

Neil Mitchell 34lb 7oz Neil Mitchell 28lb	Starting on the Thursday evening, Neil arrived at the 8 acre venue and fished in a likely looking area with his favoured Odyssey XXX freezer baits. Within the first 12 hours Neil caught a 34lb 7oz and a 28lb+ fish before younger brother Steve arrived to select his swim - you can’t beat a bit of sibling rivalry! Upon Steve’s arrival at the lake he was met by Neil with these two crackers in the sack so set up quickly in a hope of making up lost ground. During Steve’s first day he soon got in on the act catching a high double before netting The Peach at a new personal best weight of 34lb 14oz at 1.30am.

Shortly after, Steve’s rod rattled off again resulting in a pristine looking 27lb 4oz mirror to top off a very rewarding first half of the session.
Not to be outdone, the Friday night saw a high double and a 29lb+ mirror slip into Neil’s net to remind his younger brother that experience is often better than enthusiasm. With the arrival of daybreak on Saturday morning the overcast and mild conditions looked hopeful for another day of possible action. This hope was not to prove unfounded as Steve managed to notch up a 21lb+ fish with two more 19lb+ mirrors; one of which being this cracking fully scaled mirror which looks set to be yet another Milton stunner in years to come. Whilst this was playing out, older brother Neil was further up the bank and had to wait until the afternoon before the fish returned to his spots. On doing so the highly sought-after ‘Heinz’ picked up his Odyssey XXX wafter, tripping up for the first time in a number of months to visit the bank of the Dorset venue. After a very spirited 15 minute battle Neil’s wife Vicky lifted the net around the well-proportioned mirror to take Neil’s tally of 40lb+ fish from the venue to three. At 40lb 8oz this is the first time Heinz has been caught at over 40lbs and now takes the likely head of 40s in Milton Abbas to be at least five.
Neil Mitchell - 34lb 5oz	Just to top of his already impressive session, Neil then managed to account for another two of the venue’s residents in the shape of a high double and this leathery 34lb 5oz fish. Our congratulations go to Neil and Steve for their great result which saw Neil catch 2 x doubles, 2 x 20s, 2 x 30s and a 40; and Steve catch 3 x doubles, 2 x 20s and a 30....... all falling to the awesomely consistent Odyssey XXX.
