XXX – Nanny’s at it again!

It doesn’t seem long ago that Martin ‘Nanny’ Brent was hauling at Wayne Little’s superb Milton Abbas fishery........... in fact it wasn’t long. Back in October and November we reported Martin’s staggering 40 fish capture from the established 8 acre former monastery lake which he managed over three sessions using his favourite Odyssey XXX.

Since then we have obviously suffered an extremely hard winter which has even affected the almost winter-proof lake in Dorset, making the fishing there pretty tough over the last few months. Only a handful of notable fish have been reported from the venue since Christmas and many of the members have been chomping at the bit to get going again this spring.

Once again it was no surprise to us to learn that Nanny has waded in again this spring on a recent trip to Milton. Fishing over three days he got his campaign off to a phenomenal start catching 5 doubles, 6 twenties and four thirties using the ever-reliable Odyssey XXX.

The thirties (shown above) weighed in at 31lb 6oz, 31lb 14oz, 34lb and 35lb 14oz and were backed up with the 6 twenties which included this cracking 23lb common and 27lb 4oz mirror.

Martin’s incredibly consistent run of results just shows what can be achieved when great angling is combined with a great bait. Whilst he won’t thank me for saying so, he has become the most successful angler fishing the Milton Abbas syndicate over the past year and really deserves the outstanding results he has achieved. Catching at least 8 different 39lb fish (not sure exactly how many as he doesn’t like to dwell on it) including fish from such well-known venues as Toll Pits, we hope that Nanny will soon be rewarded with a 40 for his efforts and undoubted angling ability.

Odyssey XXX

Whilst a number of the fish Martin has caught have tripped up on Odyssey XXX probably more than five times in recent years, they still keep coming back for more!
