We have just received a report of another huge Rainbow Lake fish thAT has fallen to Odyssey XXX. At the end of November this enormous 87lb 5oz mirror was caught by Dr. Henrik Ragnarsson Stabo, a fishery scientist from Sweden during his week-long trip to the famous French venue.

Details of the capture have only just reached us but Henrik told us:

“It wasn't even a dream fish, because I have never even dreamt of catching anything of that size...the fish was incredibly wide. In fact, on the attached picture it was leaning on my chest - so it was a forearm wide!

The date of capture was the 21st of November, in the afternoon when it was just 11 degrees (celsius) in the water.

I caught it the day after scattering some 4-5 kilos of Odyssey-XXX (14-18mm) and a couple of kilos of Odyssey XXX pellets over a wide area between two bars. I used a double bait; one bottom-bait and one cork-dust wafter (both XXX).

On unhooking the fish I watched as digested boilies poured out the back end of the fish whilst whole boilies could still be seen in front end of the carp!”

As a fishery scientist based at the Swedish Board of Fisheries’ Institute of Freshwater Research, Dr. Ragnarsson Stabo clearly knows a good bait when he sees one – a bit like the massive Rainbow mirror.
