In June of 2006 I finally got a ticket on a very tricky 18-acre estate lake deep in the heart of Lincolnshire. The lake has a publicity ban and contains around 50 carp, 3 of which are 30+. The lake is described as difficult at the best of times and is set in a forest, has loads of over hanging trees and lily beds and a number of substantial weed beds.
Since obtaining my ticket in June I'd had a walk round to see what the crack was and had to consider my choice bait for my campaign.
I have been using CC Moore baits for a number of years with good results coming on Odyssey on every water I'd used it. After its release this year I decided to use the new XXX for the season, opting for 18mm baits as there is loads of big Tench and Bream in the water. When the bait arrived, I instantly realised it was a bit special. Just how special it would be, I didn't know at this point.
I baited spots around the lake with 1kg of XXX per spot to give the fish a chance to get on the bait before starting fishing in July. I usually go fishing straight from work at 5 on Tuesdays and Thursdays then back to work the following mornings, which is not ideal as I have to be packed up and away for 8 o'clock. I then also try to manage one weekend a month.

Things kicked off with my first fish on Thursday 13th of July, the leathery Mirror at 27lb 4oz - the biggest mirror in the lake (pictured here). This fish was usually 30+ but was significantly down in weight following spawning.
A week later and 3 more fish, the first being the second biggest fish in the lake, a common called Joe's at 28lb and a new English P.B. common!
Since the start of July until mid-October I have now caught 21 carp, 10 of which have been 20+ and 3 of these 27lb+, with a repeat of The Leathery Mirror again at 30lb 1oz. I have also caught bream into double figures and over 30 Tench, all over 8lb and 6 over 9lb, proving to me that XXX really does attract all species in a big way.
Big fish are few and far between in this neck of the woods, and thanks to the Odyssey XXX I'm now consistently catching more and bigger fish than ever before. Using this awesome bait, Odyssey XXX I have had the season of my dreams and wish to thank Ian and his staff for providing a service that is second to none and a bait of excellent quality and value.
Tight lines and screaming reels!

"In January 2006 I was planning the forthcoming year's angling, a year in which I would be able to fish most weekends and a few midweek sessions as well - more time than I ever have in the past.
Springtime would be spent on our own Mirror Pool syndicate water, with June 16th onwards seeing me move on to Bundy's Pit in Cambridgeshire where I would remain, putting in extra time as the summer finished and the autumn approached. For my chosen bait I really wanted a product that included quality fish meals and high levels of my two favourite ingredients, Robin Red and Liver.

Meteor, produced by CC Moore & Co Ltd, seemed to fit the bill perfectly, and seeing as I had already used their products successfully in the past thought it could be just what I was looking for. I decided to speak to Ian Moore who kindly sent me a sample through the post. (Something that CC Moore, unlike other companies, is happy to do). As soon as I saw it I was really impressed and after I smelt the wonderful rounded aroma of the bait I felt sure this was the right choice. I took the sample and showed it to some angling colleagues, Nick and Greg, who also took an immediate liking to the bait. 2006 would see Nick spending most of his time on Mirror Pool and Greg on another of our syndicate waters, Anthill. We all agreed that Meteor would be our bait so went ahead and ordered a batch.
Throughout the year we did our own individual things regarding application, rigs, hook bait presentations etc, but the one tactic we all used was to ensure the bait kept going in to each water, week in, week out.
It soon became apparent that the more bait we introduced the better the response would be. To cut a long story short, we all enjoyed a very successful year with plenty of fish coming from what are far from easy waters, culminating in Nick breaking the Mirror Pool record with a mirror of 33lb 6oz, Greg breaking the Anthill record with a stunning common of 35lb 2oz and me breaking the Bundy's record with a common of 42lb 15oz.
We have all put in a lot of effort this year and have really been rewarded, but feel sure that a major reason for our success is CCM Meteor…we can recommend it wholeheartedly!"
All the best,
Ian Goodacre
Even after such fantastic results Ian returned to Bundy's again in October and caught another (!) 42lb common (picture above) on Meteor.
Great angling! Ian Moore
My winter fishing (2006) started on a club water which has a publicity ban, where armed with Odyssey I got to the wind battered swim I fancied and caught 5 doubles to 16lb over 24 hours.
A couple of weeks later in April I decided to fish the lake in the new club I joined. I found what I thought would be a likely area, set up and baited with a kilo of Odyssey. At 5.30pm I received a screaming take but unfortunately on contact with the fish had a hook pull. With my confidence a little battered, I re-baited and cast out again to the same spot. An hour later it ripped off again and this time, after a 20 min battle, my mate Gaz netted the fish. It was a great looking, near leather, fish weighing in at 26.08lb. I was well pleased to say the least.
After this session I didn't really fish much until after a French trip to Chateau Lake in May, where I took Odyssey again with me, ending up catching 8 doubles, 9 twenties & 1 thirty.
When I got back from France the weather was red hot. I had a couple of weeks break then decided to try out the new Odyssey XXX. It smelt great, oozing with the aroma of G.L.M. extract.
It was now June and getting hotter. I went back onto the lake, which I first fished after hearing it had done a few Catfish. I decided to give it a go having never caught one before. I arrived at the lake and a lad came up to me asking if I could take a picture for him of a 25lb catfish. I ended up fishing the same swim, which I fished in April. The XXX went out again, that night I had 2 double figure Carp to 17lb. The next run I had, which was an hour later, I hit into and all hell let loose as the fish went through lily beds and everything else in its tracks. After a ferocious five-minute battle I unbelievably had another hook pull. I muttered a few obscenities to myself knowing it was my first Catfish, and thinking I had lost my only chance. As daylight broke I had another incredible take and exactly the same process was repeated but this time I got the culprit away from lilies and after a twenty-minute battle she was in the net. I could not believe the length of this fish and quickly weighed her in at 31.01lb. I was elated, my first catfish and a 30lber. A couple of weeks later I returned to fish the same spot, doing the same and was literally up all night!
This sleepless session resulted in 7 singles, 6 doubles to 16lb and another personal best 33.08lb Catfish. I thought to myself this Odyssey XXX is awesome.
July came and went without any fishing due to work and family commitments. Then August arrived; I ended up fishing a lake I haven't fished for a few years, after hearing it was doing a few good fish. The first session back I did a quick overnighter on the back of a big wind, and still on the XXX had 3 fish, 2 high doubles and a 20.01lb mirror.
The next week I received a letter from a syndicate I had applied for a couple of years ago, telling me there was a vacancy available. This is a very difficult southern park lake of 55 acres, which takes 2 ˝ - 3 hours to get to, but does hold some big fish, which makes the journey a bit more bearable. On my first visit I decided to fish a swim, which doesn't see much pressure where I knew a few fish had been caught from before. I thought it would be a good place to start and get a feel for the place. The first night was quiet, and then at 6.30am I landed my first Bream following a couple of bleeps and a drop back. At least my presentation was O.K! I re-baited with XXX double bottom baits and cast back onto the same spot. Within 30 minutes I had an absolute screamer and cautiously leant into fish. After a plodding ten-minute battle my first carp from this well-known water slipped into the net. On opening the net I thought I felt sure I'd just landed new personal best carp, it was a really big -framed fish and looked to be a good upper 30.

33lb 6oz
When I put her on scales I was speechless as the needle bounced between 43 - 44lb. I sacked the fish while my friend came round and reeled off some pictures of the fish known as The Resident (pictured left).
We settled on 43.06lb (as you do!!), I was over the moon and simply couldn't believe my success. My first trip to the lake and I'd caught a personal best, 40lb+ English Carp!
My next trip out was back on my local water for quick overnighter. This produced two more fish with the biggest being a lovely big-scaled mirror at 22.03lb
As you can tell I'm simply having a great season on Odyssey XXX and am extremely impressed with its performance.

To: CC Moore & Co. Ltd.
As you are aware we have been using quite a lot of your baits for some time now. We have progressed from "Odyssey" to "Meteor" and both have produced extremely well with the agreed "tweaks" making them more suitable for our needs with the warmer water etc.
During the summer Ian and I had some fairly long discussions about the next step as I had begun to believe that the carp appeared to be recognizing the signals from the meteor and our catch rates were dropping off. I have to add here that this is something that I would expect to happen fairly regularly as several anglers will be using exactly the same bait every week of the season. I think that it is fair to say that we all accept that carp do have the ability to "learn by association" and being caught regularly on the same food item is good teaching.
Anyway, your suggestion that we try the high protein "Live System" as a base and then tweak it to suit our lake has paid off big style. I heard what you said when you suggested that it would either take the place apart or fail miserably but I believe that this bait should now work everywhere as long as you add the "signals" initially. The "winterized Moorlands Special Live System" is without doubt the best bait that I have ever used. During the last four months it has produced something like 40 x forty pound plus carp to our customers as well as (here comes the trumpet blowing) my own captures of 40.05 lb common, 43.04 lb mirror, 44.02 lb mirror and 56.07 lb mirror.
I hope that you print this on your web-site as I am sure that the "WMSLS" will take apart a few other lakes and turn up some surprises for more of your customers.
As requested I have enclosed a photo of my "fluoro" rig, which is basically a traditional running ledger rig. All I have done is to use heavy gauge fluorocarbon line (about 1 metre long) in place of tubing or lead core, in order to give the carp some protection and because it sinks so fast. I also use fluoro hooklinks, tied "D" rig style and light running leads. When lowered into clear water alongside the "standard" tubing/safety clip/braided hook link set up the difference if astonishing and I am sure the "invisibility" factor has caught me many more fish.

56lb 7oz
This is also a photo of yours truly with a 56.07 lb mirror just to prove how effective this bait really is!

Spring saw me take my first delivery of the new Odyssey XXX. I had been planning to switch to it after fishing the previous two seasons on particles, which had resulted in nine fish. These fish had been very welcome but had been a little disappointing in terms of size with only one over the 30lb mark-something I hoped the XXX might improve upon.
My first outing with XXX was on my trip to France taking me to a 30-acre gravel pit containing a good head of large fish. After a shattering journey I decided to cast out into open water and get my head down for a while. No such luck! The bait had an immediate impact and I caught 2 upper doubles and a 29lb 6oz on the first morning. To be honest I didn't feel as though I'd earned the fish as I'd simply chucked out to about 30 yards and left it. The response had me fairly excited with the prospect of using 15kg of this bait over the next few days. After finding three likely spots in open water I kept the bait trickling in and had a constant stream of action. The runs started to come thick and fast with two fish picking up baits at the same time on two separate occasions. The first brace was two 30lb mirrors and the second was two 40lb commons!! Other anglers caught that week but couldn't match my average weight or number of fish as I ended with mirrors of 17,19,25,27,29,35,38,39,43 and 49 as well as commons of 40,43,45,47 and 48!!! I was absolutely convinced that XXX had made the difference

My result in France obviously had me buzzing about the new season on Cemex Roach Pit where I decided to do the first five nights in an area where fish had been milling around on the surface. Using 14mm Cork Ball Pop Ups on 6ft Zig Rigs I landed mirrors of 25lb, 27lb and 'Bob's Fish at 30lb 2oz as well as another two twenties on bottom baits after I'd baited with 5kg of free offerings. Again whether it was on the surface or the bottom, Odyssey XXX had again done the business and had me itching to get back again.
As the season wore on I found the fish switched on more and more to the introduction of XXX as I baited with 1kg per spot when fishing. This soon paid off with the capture of my new PB in the shape of Sean's Fish at 36lb 10oz and The Yellow Fish the week after at 35lb 7oz. I had caught two of the Roach Pit's 'A team' in two weeks after having them avoid me for two years. The following week I fished a quick overnighter that seemed to be ending fish-less after a night of thick fog. In such dire conditions I was gob smacked to receive a fast take as I was packing up and couldn't believe my fortune as I netted 'Barbs' at 35lb 9oz. I got to work late but very happy indeed.
In better conditions on my next trip, which resulted in a further 3 twenties using the same tactics, I was walking back to the car when I noticed some fish in a weed bed at the far end of the lake. I quickly filled a P.V.A. bag with what XXX I had left and dropped it next to the weed bed. Twenty minutes later I had hooked my fourth fish of the session, which I unfortunately ended up losing. This again made me think just how much the bait turned these fish on with an instant response being evident on numerous sessions. One thing I think was giving me an edge over other baits is that due to its solubility XXX releases natural attractors quite quickly and gives the impression that it has been in the water for longer than it actually has. However with such a high of GLM and other attractors it goes on attracting fish for a considerable length of time.
On a Sunday walk around the lake I spotted fish topping at 100 yards and put some bait out in preparation for a session on the coming Tuesday. When I arrived I was gutted to find someone in my chosen swim with fish showing regularly over the spots. I chose to drop into a nearby swim and cast bags to around 20 yards form the far bank. The next morning I was into a cracking 26lb 10oz mirror which, along with seeing the angler in the other swim blank, had me really buzzing as the autumn season approached.
We were now into October as I started a 3-day session armed with 8kg of Odyssey XXX in mixed sizes and shapes. I stuck with fishing bags but baited with 2kg over each spot and at 3am had a slow take that led into a brief fight. The culprit was yet another of the 'A team' in 'Big Mouth' at 34lb 8oz and was another momentous capture in my season on Roach Pit. I quickly weighed and returned her and cast another bag back on the spot. Four hours later at 7am and I was awoken by an absolute screamer. By the time I hit it the fish had taken 40 yards of line and was in no mood to give in. I started gaining line but was halted as it buried itself in a huge weed bed. I kept steady pressure on the fish and gradually brought it in amongst a massive clump of weed.

38lb

39lb

35lb 7oz
As I pulled back the bundles of weed that surrounded the fish I glimpsed a sight of her flank making it easy for me to recognize the fish. It was The Big Lin at an all-time high weight of 39lb and hence another new PB. Quite frankly, at this moment I felt that it wouldn't matter if I never caught another fish as I had just landed the most beautiful creature I had ever laid eyes on. To say I was over the moon is more than an understatement, but as if this wasn't enough, whilst still on cloud nine later in the same session I landed 'Sean's Fish' again-this time at 38lb. Thinking of that session when I caught a 34lb 8oz, 38lb and 39lb from a pressured Cemex water still brings a smile to my face and convinces me that this bait is something very special.
With 15 fish, (of which 6 were good 30's) I have had quite simply my best year ever and want to thank CC Moore for the supply of the superb Odyssey XXX. Now I'm not any more qualified to give advice than anyone else being just a normal carp angler with a reasonable amount of angling time available, but from my experience you have got to get on the XXX, it really is that good!
All the best
Trevor Cooke
"I started adding Meteor a kilo per swim into five different spots in the beginning of March 2005, and did this every week for three months to the end of May before fishing with it on the hook. I found a good trick was to air dry Meteor for about a week and to re-hydrate it with a mix of 50% Red Venom and 50% Hemp Oil, so that way I could carry 10 kilos of bait without worrying about it going off. If during the session it was not used, I could then take it home.
Whilst watching fish feed under a snag tree I realised that the bait was being taken very readily, the more I added the more they seemed to really get on it. The first fish I caught was a mirror of 37.2lb 'The Sergeant Major,' and a new personal best, a good start or what!
As the season went on, I was adding 25 kilos of meteor each month, using no pellets or particles but just continually feeding boilies into different areas. Each session I fished I tended to concentrate on one of the areas I had pre-baited focussing all my attention on one area at a time. By the middle of June I was now using Meteor stick mix on each rod with a snowman rig on about an 8" fluorocarbon hook link, catching an average of two fish per week at quite a tricky, pressured venue, where most other anglers were only catching one if they were lucky.

32lb 4oz

39lb 6oz

37lb 2oz
Using Meteor over a period of time the fish were obviously eating it as a part of their daily diet and were really looking for it. During one session I cast to bubbling fish and caught a brace of a mirror and a common both at 30.4lb, which I hooked at the same time!
As the weeks passed my results were almost relentless; the first time I had the lake to myself I managed to catch two 30s and four 20s from the same difficult water with a later session on my own resulting in commons of 25lb and 27lb that were again hooked at the same time.
Summer was particularly hot this year but the fish showed no sign of losing their appetite for Meteor. August was also very productive as I was still catching fish every week, but September was exceptional. Whilst still keeping the bait going in I had a big common at 30.8lb, which was quickly followed by a leather at 32.4lb and the same mirror as I'd had in May at 33.8lb.
Now in late 2006 I have just had a new PB common at 39.6lb, which really has capped a tremendous run of results for me on the excellent Meteor. This year has been my best ever with 36 fish to date, with nine of those being over 30lb. I am now looking forward to the winter with the hope of catching my first 40lb fish."
John Humphries
"Odyssey XXX arrived just in time to save my season this year, knowing I only realistically had 6 months in which to fish due to plans to set up a new business at the end of the year. I was therefore really concerned that I make the most of the little time I was to have available in 2006.
I started the year on Meteor, which I had used exclusively for 2004 and 2005 with great success. This was bait that accounted for 12 x 30's and 2 x 40's along with numerous 20's on my chosen water, understandably boosting my confidence even though I was moving on to pastures new.
With a 260 mile round trip to and from the lake regular pre-baiting wasn't really an option, and on a water that was receiving a lot of regular bait I knew it wasn't going to be easy but drew up my battle plan and stuck with it for the first 4 months. During that time I caught a few fish but the catches were not as regular as I would of liked. Whilst some things were against me, I felt this was mainly due to the amount of Crayfish present only allowing me to leave a bait in the water for around 3-4 hours before it was completely gone- a fact that with no pre-baiting meant the fish had very little time to get used to the bait. I started to panic, as the limited time I had was rapidly running out. I decided a phone call to Ian Moore at CC Moore & Co Ltd was needed to discuss the situation and see if he any suggestions.
After hearing all the details of the water and it's characteristics Ian quickly convinced me that the Odyssey XXX was the way to go so I took his advice and soon received my first shipment of XXX and looked forward to my next trip.
I knew that GLM was a additive that had previously been used on the lake with some success, but I was sure it had never been used at anything like 10% inclusion as in XXX, so I really didn't know what to expect.
If I'd had any doubts at all, these were soon put to rest as within hours of arriving on my first session on XXX I caught one of the known 30's down in weight at 27.10lb- very welcome! Was it luck? Had I just dropped a bait on the fish's nose or was the bait already making a difference? Within another couple of hours I had another two 20's on the bank from different rods. I decided on some heavier baiting from that point and with chest waders on ventured out into the lake, introducing 1 kilo of chopped and whole boillie and a kilo of pellet mixed with CC Moore's hot hemp around each rod.

38lb
The rest of the session carried on as it had started with another seven fish all over 20lb topped by the lakes largest resident 'Floppy Tail' at a spawned out 38lb. Since that incredible session on 'Woldview' (Rod Hutchinson's water) the bait has continued to produce well for me on numerous other waters with plenty more fish to 28lb falling to the XXX.
Unfortunately my fishing has now finished for this year due to work commitments. But as you can imagine, I can't wait to get back out there again and finish my mission in tempting the lakes resident big common. I feel sure it won't be too long in coming with the quality of this bait."
Darren Wilcox
P.S. Like many other pressured big fish up and down the country, 'Floppy Tail' is obviously very partial to our Odyssey XXX. Just two weeks after Darren caught her, she was again caught on XXX by a different angler in a different area. Well done to Dave Neal, the successful angler on this occasion.
Dear CC Moore
I would like to thank CC Moore for creating a fantastic bait in Odyssey XXX Shelf Life. This year I returned to Dreamlakes for my 7th visit and the bait provided me with my best ever catch at this popular venue. I caught 12 x 20lb plus, 7 x 30lb plus, 4 x 40lb plus and a personal best from Dreamlakes 2 with a 54lb common carp. My original PB was 38.5 lb and your bait has enabled me to exceed this beyond my wildest dreams.
Many thanks
Dean Smith
Hi Ian,
I would like to say a big thank you on what I think is the best bait I?ve ever used. As you are aware I?ve been doing very well in the past on your meteor, but felt I wanted to change to one of your other baits. After an email to you I changed over to your Odyssey XXX; and you were right! You said I would not be disappointed and I wasn?t.
As soon as it arrived the aroma it gave off was enough to give me full confidence before I?d even put it on the hook. It caught instantly from the off on our trip over to France, in fact our first three fish were 37lb ,53lb and a common of 46lb 12oz! It did not stop there as it consistently caught all week with a total of 43 carp 2 x doubles, 8 x 20lb plus, 21 x 30lb plus, 11 x 40lb plus and 1 x 53lb.
My personal favourite and target fish was the ?silver leather? which I caught at a stonking 47lb 2oz.
The XXX certainly did not let us down and I?ll be shortly ordering more of the Odyssey XXX for my trips ove
Kevin Wyatt
Hi Guys,
Just a quick note to say -fantastic bait! Since using the Live System in early 2008, I?ve had 6 fish 15, 18 commons, mirrors of 23, 25, 27and 30lb.
The last four were caught on an overnighter. The 30 is the first the lake has done, all caught from a difficult rambling club water.
Thanks again for such a superb fish-catching bait.
Best regards
Jason Lord
I would like to give a great big thank you to all at CC Moore. I received my bait ingredients this morning as promised. The condition it arrived in cannot be faulted and the delivery driver was extremely polite, a credit to his company. You will definitely be hearing from me in the very near future, I look forward to dealing with you again. Once again, a great big thank you to you all.
Best regards
P.S. I will let you know how the bait goes very soon.

Just had my order delivered. Thanks for the prompt delivery and top quality of your products, it is much appreciated. The guys who work in my lab are complaining now because all they can smell is Scopex and Plum essence.
Thanks again mate.

Dear CC Moore & Co Ltd
We would like to thank you for your quality baits. We went to France (Me and John) and caught 22 fish and 16 fish were 15 kg or higher. The two biggest were 22.5 and 23kg.
Our friend who also used CC Moore caught 15 fish on your baits, also one 20kg fish.
The three of use also doubled 3 fish that week.
The other 4 anglers caught together 14 fish in total.
So CC Moore baits, thank you!!!!!
Kees Nagel
Dear Team CC Moore,
Just a quick thank you for the magnificent service provided by your good selves. My bait order was taken by a happy, knowledgeable and very professional person. My bait arrived thirty minutes ago exactly on time, well packed and ready to go. I was also impressed by the billing information.
Well done boys.....terrific quality product at a reasonable price with top drawer service.
Kind regards,
Des
CC Moore.
I have had three orders arrive from you now and wanted to congratulate you on your excellent products and service. I am now using your products exclusively for all my fishing. Well done to you all.
One question I would like to ask is about your Tigers in Talin. Once opened is there a time limit before they should be used. If so should I freeze them in small batches including the Talin? I would be very grateful if you could give me some advice.
(The answer to this is: Use the particles within 3-4 days and then freeze them. If kept covered in water/liquid they will remain fresh for longer and will eventually start to ferment, creating an increased level of attraction).
Many thanks
Pete Lee
